I don't know how you feel
and I will not say
that I do know it
The sadness in your eyes
so obvious
trying to hide
your weakness
Longing for someone
to make you laugh
or smile
though no one
comes around
You smile at me
obviously lying
as you say:
I'm fine
I know you need someone
to hold you close
and who says:
it will be fine
You want to hear
those words
escape my lips
knowing that it's just a lie
But, we need lies
beautiful ones
those, which make us
stay alive
for the next day, week, month,
year
We need those liars around us
setting up happy faces
for a sad play
joking around and laughing
about our misery
We don't need
I'm sorry's
'cause those
do not help
Just words
which ring through our ears
which make us believe
the world is a good place
So, maybe I know
how you feel
waiting for a good joke
a grin
which pulls you in
while you manage to smile
As I sigh relieved,
at least you smiled...
